In a new interview with Spanish outlet AS, Fernandez's agent set the record straight. As quoted by Sport Witness, Pastore said: "There’s a lot of talk out there… but the truth is, nothing’s really happening. He’s focusing on finishing the year strong at Chelsea.
"It’s true he made some comments that weren’t entirely appropriate at the moment, but he didn’t say anything out of the ordinary either. He simply talked about Madrid, which he likes a lot."
Fernandez was spotted in Madrid earlier this week with Joao Pedro and Marc Cucurella. He and his Chelsea teammates attended the Madrid Open and watched Francisco Cerundolo lock horns with Alexander Blockx in the round of 16 on Tuesday evening.

When quizzed on whether Fernandez wants to join Los Blancos, the former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder said: "Every time he has a day off, he comes to Madrid because I’m there and because he has friends there.
"But that’s all it is. Nothing more. The goal is to finish the year well at Chelsea, have a good World Cup, and then we’ll see."

On how Fernandez's role changed when Rosenior replaced Enzo Maresca, Pastore said: "He’s playing in many positions. In the last two years, he’s changed a lot. With Maresca, he’s played much further forward.
"Later, under Rosenior, he played more as a defensive midfielder. With the Argentine national team, he’s also playing as a more advanced number eight, getting forward to score.
"He had two years with many assists and goals, so it’s normal that coaches see him as more offensive than defensive. But he’s a player who can easily play in both positions."

Fernandez was handed an in-house two-match suspension after making cryptic comments about his future, ruling him out of clashes against Port Vale in the FA Cup quarter-final and Manchester City in the Premier League.
The Argentine was seemingly stripped of his vice-captaincy duties upon his return to the first team, with Moises Caicedo leading Chelsea in each of Liam Rosenior's final two games in charge.
Fernandez has since reclaimed the armband following the appointment of Calum McFarlane on an interim basis. He quickly repaid his temporary boss' faith, leading the Blues back to winning ways last weekend.
Speaking to club media after Fernandez fired Chelsea to a 1-0 win over Leeds United in the FA Cup semi-final, McFarlane said: "He's a winner – he's got so much talent, he's got so much fire.
"He's massive for this group, and the best thing about Enzo is that he can do a bit of everything, but when it gets tough, you see the fight in him. You see him driving the group on, you see him making tackles, you see him fighting for every loose ball.
"So he was exceptional and deserved his man of the match award."
